Local K9 Search & Rescue Teams to Train in Manheim Township on March 3rd
On Thursday, March 3rd, local K9 Search and Rescue Teams will be conducting a joint training in Manheim Township. The training operation will begin at Landis Wood from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM, and resume at Overlook Park and Manheim Township Public Library between 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM.
The training will include K9’s from Summit Bloodhounds SAR, First Tracks SAR, and an officer from York County Sheriff’s Office.
Three participating teams of five K9’s will conduct search and rescue training in Landis Woods and Overlook Park. “Training in progress” signs will be posted near trail entrances informing the public about the operation.
Public using either Landis Woods or Overlook Park during these times should allow the K9’s to perform mission unimpeded.
“Search & Rescue training is the best opportunity for K9 teams to work through challenges presented in a deployment and is absolutely essential to the training of SAR dogs,” said Middle Creek K9 Search and Rescue Team member, Jill Robinson. “Training at different locations provide the handler with a fresh perspective on their dog’s abilities and celebrate the dog’s strengths and accomplishments. They also provide guidance in developing training plans and the chance for a K9 team to work real-world, scenario-based search problems.”

Manheim Township Reinstitutes COVID-19 Mask Requirements in Manheim Township Facilities
On Monday, January 3rd, the Manheim Township Board of Commissioners reinstituted their COVID-19 mask requirements at Township buildings and facilities for residents, visitors, customers, and patrons. Regardless of vaccination status, all persons two years or older must wear a mask inside a Manheim Township facility or building. The policy is effective immediately.
Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases during and after the holidays, and several recent cases within our buildings, we ask that you help us minimize the spike by wearing a mask. It is imperative that we support our staff, first responders, and front-facing employees during this recent surge, so that we may continue to serve our community in our respective fields and job responsibilities.
The Manheim Township Board of Commissioners will revisit this policy at the end of January.
All residents are encouraged to get vaccinated and can make an appointment by visiting Vaccines.gov.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
