Volunteer

Volunteers are vital in the effort to raise funds for the library through used book sales and other events. You can be an integral part of the library and its ability to serve the community by volunteering today. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old, and those under 18 years must obtain parent/guardian consent.

Volunteer Positions

Shelving Volunteers
Volunteers are always needed to help shelve returned items. Attention to detail is a must and a regular weekly time commitment is appreciated. Light lifting and bending is required.

Fall Book Sale
Volunteering for the book sale in September is a very flexible opportunity! You are welcome to sign up for the shifts and jobs that best fit your schedule and your physical needs. An online sign-up form is sent out 6-8 weeks before the sale with in-depth descriptions of each role. This is a great opportunity for families and organizations to participate together! No lifting is required.

Book Sort Volunteers
Preparing for the annual book sale is a process that takes all year! Book Sort is (almost) every Tuesday morning from 9:00am until about 11:00am in the Library basement. Although this is a regular time commitment, you are welcome to attend when your schedule allows. The book sort team separates donated books into categories for the sale. Sorters wear comfortable clothes and comfortable shoes as they stand throughout the process and move to and from boxes. No lifting is required.

Book Spot Stock Volunteers
The Book Spot, located in the Tell Café, is a popular spot at the Library! Book Spot volunteers sign up for one day each month to help restock the shelves. This involves checking the Book Spot for open shelf space, filling a cart in the basement with the various book needs and taking the cart (via elevator) to refill the shelves. Volunteer time takes about an hour and training is provided. No lifting is required.

Amazon Volunteers
Our Amazon team is an ongoing volunteer opportunity throughout the year. Amazon team members research books, add books to our Amazon page and some pack books and ship. This is a significant commitment and due to the nature of the tasks and the access to data, it will require an additional interview to join this team. We ask that our Amazon team members are comfortable using the computer and have morning availability. No lifting is required.

Fundraising Event Volunteers
Volunteer help is also needed for our fundraising events at the library! These events change from year to year, but joining the event volunteer list means you will receive an email when we need help with our next Silent Auction, Celebration or Soiree! No lifting is required.
