Passport Agent (Part-time)

Manheim Township Public Library is seeking a part-time Passport Agent.  A Passport Agent works with clients during the application process to obtain a United States passport.  To be considered qualified, a candidate must have strong customer service skills and be highly detail oriented.  Must be capable of understanding and applying State Department policies and procedures related to the passport service.  Must satisfy initial and ongoing training requirements.  Must maintain strict client confidentiality.

Job Description:  The Passport Agent serves clients who seek to obtain a United States passport. This involves verifying official documents presented by applicants, ensuring all required forms are complete, and taking passport photos upon request.  When not performing passport services, the Passport Agent provides back-up support for the Library’s circulation function, including checking materials in and out and shelving items.

Qualifications:  High School Diploma required. Candidates with a college degree and previous passport experience are preferred.  Millennium/Sierra ILS experience a plus. Ability to speak a language in addition to English desirable.

Compensation: $9.50/hour. The position is 20 hours/week.  Must be available to work daytime, evening, and weekend hours. Hours are subject to change based on the needs of the Library.

Must pass the Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and FBI Fingerprint Based Federal Criminal History.

Volunteer Opportunities Available

We are always open to accepting offers of volunteer service.  Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older and must commit to at least 6 months of weekly service, due to the extensive training required.  The librarians at the Service Desk can provide an application.
