Thank you for your interest in volunteering at MTPL!

Volunteers are vital in supporting the library, assisting with tasks like shelving and book repair, as well as raising funds through used book sales. You can be an integral part of the library and its ability to serve the community by volunteering today.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old, and those under 18 years must obtain parent/guardian consent. We are unable to accommodate court-ordered community service hours.

All volunteers (including minors) must comply with the requirements for clearances in accordance with Pennsylvania law and policies established by Manheim Township Public Library. Clearances must be submitted prior to the start of volunteer service, and must be kept up to date to continue volunteering. The required clearances are Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, and either FBI Fingerprint Based Federal Criminal History Background Check OR Disclosure Statement Application for Volunteers.

    • FBI certification submitted through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) is required the prospective volunteer has not been a resident of PA for the entirety of the previous 10-year period or has not obtained a DHS FBI check since establishing residency in PA. Appointments can be scheduled through IdentoGo at the link above. Please note that there is a fee for this clearance, to be paid by the volunteer. When scheduling your fingerprint appointment, use service code: 1KG738
    • If the prospective volunteer has been a resident of PA for the entirety of the previous 10-year period or has received a DHS FBI check since establishing residency in PA, the volunteer may complete the Disclosure Statement for Volunteers, swearing and affirming that they are not disqualified from service pursuant to section 6344(c) of the CPSL or have not been convicted of an offense similar in nature to those crimes.

Please note that MTPL cannot accept volunteers for court ordered community service.
Areas of Interest
Please list the times you would be available to volunteer. The library has volunteers in the mornings and afternoons Monday-Saturday, while evening hours are only available Monday-Wednesday.
