Choose a packet of seeds
The MTPL Seed Library offers packets with enough seeds for a few plants of that variety. The seeds that stock the seed library must be from unopened, correctly tested, packaged, and labeled commercial seed packets. We stock the seed library through donations and Lancaster County seed retailers. You keep the seeds.
The Seed Library has a rotating, limited stock of many varieties of veggies, herbaceous plants, flowers, and herbs. We encourage you to check the selection often. Please use the library mindfully and leave enough packets for other folks to enjoy! Pay close attention to the growing conditions of the variety you select to ensure you can provide the plant with minimum sun and space.
Sow the seeds and enjoy the process
We hope our seed library encourages you to try something new! Experiment with a new vegetable variety, start a cut flower garden, or add a native pollinator plant to your property. The library hosts a monthly garden club where we discuss our current garden projects, problems, and successes.
Share what you grew
The MTPL Seed Library cannot accept seeds back; this is to ensure that we’re offering correctly inspected and tested seeds, according to the PA Seed Act. You can still swap seeds with other community members at our seasonal Plant Swaps & community seed swap. Check out our calendar for programs on gardening and seed collecting.
