Leroy Hopkins was born and raised in Lancaster County. He is a retired Millersville professor. As the associate director of the local Urban League he found local African-Americans lacked a sense of their history and their connection to the community. Leroy put the question to himself in 1977 “Does Lancaster County have a black history?” and he has been answering it ever since.
