This month we welcome tech artist Michael Dennis, who comes to us from our partnership with MAKE 717.
Michael will show us the Laser Cube, an entry-level laser cutter that grew from a Kickstarter campaign. Laser cutters can be used in a variety of functional and beautiful applications, such as engraving and cutting paper, wood, acrylic, textiles, metal and more. Learn how lasers work, and see them in action!
To program his laser cutting jobs, Michael will be utilizing a Pi-Top, the first Do-it-Yourself laptop!
You will leave this program with the basics of how to operate a laser cutter using gCode and some design tools. You will also be provided with sources of information to take your knowledge to the next level. Your child will make a small item to take home.
If you were not able to get a space for this event, look for the Laser Cutter to return on April 15, 2017 at our first annual Maker Fest. The whole Make717 crew will be coming out to demonstrate their traveling tech that day!
